Google Fiber

In addition to the state and federal broadband funding opportunities made possible by the Illinois Capital Bill and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, Google is seeking U.S. communities in which to build between 50,000 and 500,000 fiber-to-the-home connections to “experiment with new ways to help make Internet access better and faster for everyone.”

Governor Quinn wants Illinois to embrace Google’s challenge. To learn more about Google’s project, visit http://www.google.com/appserve/fiberrfi/ . Both municipalities and private citizens are encouraged to submit comments.
