  •  Federal Child Care Block Grant Program Reauthorized

    In November 2014, President Obama signed the Child Care Development Fund Act (CCDF) into law, marking the first reauthorization of the federal child care program in nearly 20 years. The new law includes several important updates to the program that help to strengthen the safety and quality of child care programs as well as streamline the process for accessing and maintaining care.
  •  Illinois Wins $80 Million Federal Investment in Early Childhood Education

    Illinois is one of thirteen states to receive the federal Preschool Expansion Grant, totaling $80M of investment in early learning over the next four years. The funds will enable the state to increase the number of high quality pre-k slots by more than 3,000 across the state. Learn more about Illinois’ plan here.

    This Quality Rating and Improvement System provides a process for pursuing quality efforts that will help providers and improve developmental skills among the children they serve. ExceleRate Illinois also provides standards, guidelines, resources and supports to help create better quality outcomes.

    Most importantly, the program helps accelerate excellence in early learning and development in the State of Illinois.

    The EHS-CCP is a new competitive grant opportunity to support the partnering of Early Head Start programs with child care providers. The Governor’s Office of Early Childhood Development will keep this webpage updated with resources to help programs plan for the competition.
