Charlie Carey comes from a long line of Chicago Board of Trade veterans, and grew up in the business. Following his father's unexpected death, Charlie took over his seat on the exchange in 1978. In 2003 he became Chairman of the CBOT. Charlie explains the mechanics of the commodities exchange, and discusses how the business has evolved from purely agricultural commodities to today's market of options, futures, and the emergence of financials and derivatives.
