Springfield attorney Mary Lee Leahy has spent her life in the public eye, helping to successfully litigate the Pickering v Board of Education Supreme Court case in the 1960s before serving as a delegate to the 1970 Illinois Constitutional Convention. She served in the Dan Walker administration, and in 1990 successfully presented the Rutan v Republican Party of Illinois case before the U.S. Supreme Court.
