The Governor’s Office of Management and Budget (GOMB) today released additional details of the state’s fiscal year 2011 budget. Today’s updated budget numbers reflect Governor Quinn’s plan to make major reductions to state spending while prioritizing the tools needed to keep the Illinois economy moving forward.

Last month, Governor Quinn announced he would cut spending by $1.4 billion this fiscal year. These updated plans outline those reductions and reflect the budget bills passed by the Illinois General Assembly this year as adjusted by the Governor’s reduction vetoes. GOMB will continue to work with agencies throughout the year to manage the budget by implementing budgetary reforms based on objectives and priorities.

Since taking office, Governor Quinn has reduced appropriations in the general fund by nearly $3 billion, a 10.5 percent reduction. He has also worked with the General Assembly to pass historic pension reform, reduce headcount, increase employee unpaid days off and consolidate unneeded office space.
