Jim Oberweis and Michael Connelly, join Illinois Policy Institute at press conference showing how Illinois can solve its pension crisis and save more than $221 billion over next 30 years--The governor has summoned the Illinois General Assembly to Springfield Wednesday to address the state’s more than $100 billion pension crisis. To set the tone for the discussion, today a group of reform-minded lawmakers joined the Illinois Policy Institute at a press conference to present a pension reform plan that is constitutional, would immediately cut Illinois' $100 billion unfunded pension liability by nearly half, and would protect the benefits earned to date by current government workers.

In Illinois, courts ordered scammers to repay more than $33 million to victims last year with the Secretary of State’s Securities Department handling more than 400 such cases of investment fraud.

5/25/2013DES PLAINES - Governor Quinn Honors Fallen Servicemembers During Memorial Day Weekend Governor Pat Quinn today commemorated Memorial Day by unveiling the “Portrait of a Soldier” memorial exhibition at the Des Plaines Oasis and announcing the summer exhibit schedule at multiple Tollway oases in Northern Illinois. The exhibit features a series of hand-drawn portraits of nearly all of the 306 Illinois men and women who died in the 9/11 terrorist attack, Iraq, Afghanistan or in combat service to our country since September 11, 2001. The exhibit is part of Governor Quinn’s long-standing commitment to honor Illinois’ men and women in uniform.

Counties approved today include Bureau, Crawford, Henderson, Knox, Livingston, Marshall, Mason, McDonough, Peoria, Rock Island, Schuyler, Stark, Tazewell and Woodford. These add to 11 counties already approved for federal aid last week.
