Clear your calendar for this year’s Bras for a Cause event brought to you by the Macomb Area Chamber of Commerce & Downtown Development Corporation. The Mardi Bras Party will kick-start the fun on Friday, October 5th, from 5-7 pm at the West Central Illinois Arts Center. This party features live music, free hors d’oeuvres and beverages as well as the ever-popular raffle of clever, artistically-decorated bras. Tickets for the event are $10/person, available at Envy, R & R Spa, No Place Like Home, Nostalgia, the Chamber/Downtown office or at the door. Proceeds will again be donated to local breast cancer charities. Last year alone, the 2011 Bras for a Cause (Paint the Town Pink) events raised $1,800. These funds were distributed to Linda’s Fund at MDH, WIRC Wig & Turban Fund and the McDonough County Health Department in support of programs that benefit LOCAL breast cancer patients.
While adults are enjoying the Mardi Bras party, let the kids attend Art & Reading Night on the 2nd & 3rd floors of the Masonic Building, 133 S. Randolph, from 5-7 pm. This is open to children ages 3-10 for $5/per child. All children must be pre-registered by calling the Chamber/Downtown office at (309)-837-4855.
The following day, Saturday, October 6th, put on your running/walking shoes and join the fun at the MDH Tevar Run/Walk. Registration begins at 7am at the Old Dairy, 210 S. Lafayette, followed by the run/walk starting at 8am. For more information about the Run/Walk, call McDonough District Hospital at 309-836-1557.
