Carlos Martín Jiménez Macías

Carlos Martín Jiménez Macías fue nombrado Cónsul General de México en Chicago por el Presidente Enrique Peña Nieto y ratificado por el Senado de la República el 25 de abril de 2013.

Nació en San Luis Potosí el 1 de mayo de 1953. Ha sido tres veces Diputado Federal y dos veces Senador por San Luis Potosí.

Fue Senador de la República por el estado de San Luis Potosí a la LX y LXI Legislatura del Honorable Congreso de la Unión, electo por el Pleno del Senado como Presidente de la Comisión de Relaciones Exteriores, Asia Pacífico y como Secretario de la Comisión de Relaciones Exteriores para Europa.

Carlos Martín Jiménez Macías was designated Consul General of Mexico in Chicago by President Enrique Peña Nieto and ratified by the Senate on April 25, 2013.


Mr. Jimenez Macias has devoted his life to public service. He was elected three times to represent his State of San Luis Potosi as Congressman and twice as Senator.

As senator he served as President of the Foreign Relations Asia-Pacific Committee, Secretary of the Foreign Relations European Committee and member of the Foreign Relations and Social Development Commissions.

During his tenures as Congressman, Mr. Carlos Jimenez actively participated in the activities of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Group. In 2010, he was named President of the Latin America and Caribbean Inter-Parliamentary Group.

In the international arena, Mr. Carlos Jimenez has participated in several commissions: Vice President of the Inter-Parliamentary Mexico-European Union Commission; President of the Parliamentary Confederation of the Americas; member of the Parliamentary Global Organization against Corruption and President of the Parliamentary Forum ”Mexican Migrant”.
