On June 26, 2013 the ILHIE Authority convened the Illinois Patient Consent Management Workshop. The Workshop presented an opportunity for Illinois health care stakeholders to learn about important statutory changes to the Illinois Mental Health & Developmental Disabilities Confidentiality Act (MHDDCA) that facilitate HIE. Three Work Groups were formed and held inaugural meetings during the Workshop and have met regularly since to consider privacy, security and consent policies to govern the exchange of patient data utilizing HIE in Illinois. These policies included those for which the ILHIE Authority is responsible pursuant to the MHDDCA amendment, as well as breach notification. Work Group Chairs and Co-Chairs will present their Recommendations to the Data Security & Privacy Committee (DSPC) on October 30 and 31, 2013.
Oral public comments will be heard at the DSPC. Stakeholders interested in providing oral comment must email Krysta Heaney at firstname.lastname@example.org
