Consumer education and engagement are cornerstones for the implementation of a successful state health IT program. It is also critical to prepare consumers to make the most informed e-health consent decisions possible.
The charge of the Office of Health Information Technology’s (OHIT) Consumer Education Workgroup is to advise the ILHIE board. It provides a forum for consumer comment, education and the development of consumer stakeholder consensus on principles, standards and initiatives relating to the electronic transfer of personal health information in IL.
