Though it functions much like standard email, ILHIE Direct messages are encrypted in compliance with HIPPA and state law, and are a quick and easy alternative to secured fax.

As Illinois moves into the full, statewide health information exchange (HIE) implementation phase, it is currently looking for health care providers from all across Illinois, from small rural medical groups to large urban hospitals, to become testing partners and early adopters of ILHIE services.
