Connect to the Illinois Health Information Exchange

Improve Patient Care, Save Time, and Lower Costs

Having secured, electronic access to patient information at any time or place can help everyone get the best care. Now is the time to join Illinois’ rapidly growing electronic Health Information Exchange:

ILHIE Direct Secure Messaging

ILHIE Direct, launched in December 2011 as the first offering of the Illinois Health Information Exchange (ILHIE), is an encrypted messaging service for health care providers and professionals to securely share patient health information. Though it functions much like standard email, ILHIE Direct messages are encrypted in compliance with HIPPA and state law, and are a quick and easy alternative to secured fax.

Bi-Directional, Statewide Health Information Exchange

As Illinois moves into the full, statewide health information exchange (HIE) implementation phase, it is currently looking for health care providers from all across Illinois, from small rural medical groups to large urban hospitals, to become testing partners and early adopters of ILHIE services.
