Measuring Our Progress

The Illinois P-20 Council in consultation with the state agencies serving education and workforce development will identify key indicators throughout the P-20 system and establish benchmarks and a timeline for progress toward the goal of increasing the proportion of Illinoisans with high-quality degrees and credentials to 60 percent by the year 2025.

Our benchmarks will be coordinated with the Public Agenda set by the Illinois Board of Higher Education.

The U.S. Department of Education is tracking key indicators across all 50 states in its dashboard.

Where will today's kids be in 2025?

The year 2025 may seem distant - but for children entering preschool this fall, 2025 is the year they could all graduate from high school, if we can plug the leaks in our education pipeline today.

For the students entering 3rd grade this fall, all of them could possess the knowledge and skills they will need for high-quality jobs in 2025, having earned a postsecondary credential, or a Bachelor's degree, or even a 3-year graduate degree.
