The Illinois P-20 Council in consultation with the state agencies serving education and workforce development will identify
key indicators throughout the P-20 system and establish
benchmarks and a
timeline for progress toward the goal of increasing the proportion of Illinoisans with high-quality degrees and credentials to 60 percent by the year 2025.
State Level Data
Our benchmarks will be coordinated with the Public Agenda
set by the Illinois Board of Higher Education.
Illinois released the newly redesigned state school report card in fall 2013. The report card
is available via the web and aims to provide a snapshot of Illinois' K-12 system. The classic IL Interactive Report Card
is still available for customized queries by county, district, municipality, etc.
Advance Illinois also publishes a report, the State We're In
, which documents progress and challenges toward ensuring that Illinois' public education system prepares students for academic and career success. The report includes state level metrics at key transition points along the P-20 educational pipeline.
National Level Data
The U.S. Department of Education is tracking key indicators across all 50 states in its dashboard
The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) produces The Nation's Report Card
which offers information on both levels of profficiency for the types of knowledge and skills students accross the country are learning as well as changes in rates of achievement over time. Information is provided for sub-groups, subject as well as by state.
As part of The White House's ongoing effort to improve accessibility and transparency in the postsecondary education space, it has developed the College Score Card
, a tool which enables prospective students and their families to access information about completion rates, comparative cost of attendance, and student loan default rates by institution.
Additionally, as part of the Department of Education's Know Before You Owe campaign, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has launched a model financial aid disclosure form, the Financial Aid Shopping Sheet
, to help students better understand the type and amount of aid they qualify for so they can easily compare award letters.
Illinois is a member of Complete College America
, a national organization which works with states to significantly increase the number of Americans with quality career certificates or college degrees and to close attainment gaps for traditionally underreprensented populations. CCA compiles state profiles which include proportion of adults with a postsecondary degree or workforce certificate as well as key data points along the pipeline to completion and break outs by demographic sub-group.
Where will today's kids be in 2025?
The year 2025 may seem distant - but for children entering preschool this fall, 2025 is the year they could all
graduate from high school, if we can plug the leaks in our education pipeline today.
For the students entering 3rd grade this fall, all
of them could possess the knowledge and skills they will need for high-quality jobs in 2025, having earned a postsecondary credential, or a Bachelor's degree, or even a 3-year graduate degree.
