Building Bridges

To achieve cultural understanding and robust trade between Illinois and nations around the globe, Governor Pat Quinn has conducted trade missions to Mexico, Brazil and elsewhere. He has also met with elected officials and business leaders who visit Illinois. The result? More than 80,000 jobs due to foreign investment and record-breaking tourism. To learn more, go here.

Monarch Butterflies

The amazing migration of millions of Monarch butterflies between Mexico and the Upper Midwest is a metaphor for the flow of people, trade and culture between Michoacán, Mexico and Illinois.

In fact, the Monarch is the official State Insect of Illinois, an expression of our admiration for their tenacity and a symbol of our friendship. Learn more about this incredible phenomenon here.
