IDOC to host 4th Annual Women in Corrections-Illinois Conference 

SPRINGFIELD – June 16, 2010 –The Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) will host the 4th Annual Women in Corrections-Illinois Conference Aug. 31-Sept. 2, 2010, at the Regency Conference Center in O’Fallon, IL.  

The conference theme, “Finding the Woman Within in 2010,” focuses on living a healthy life as well as career and personal well-being for the women who make a difference in corrections everyday. Topics involve health, finance, career and personal growth. Workshops include Careers and Relationships, Good Grief, From Client to Comrade, and Women’s Health As Viewed By Medical Practitioner.

“Celebrating its third successful year, this conference highlights once again that WIC-Illinois is dedicated to its goal of providing women in corrections with ideas to continue their standards of excellence on the job and in their personal lives,” said Chief of Programs and Support Services Roberta Fews, who serves as executive chair for WIC-Illinois.  “During the past 27 years, I have worked with many exemplary women who have helped shape the field of corrections and pave the way as leaders in the correctional industry. This year’s conference will serve as an outstanding experience for women in corrections to join together as a team and share valuable insights and strategies.”

Conference attendees will include IDOC employees representing security, education, parole, program services and administrative and executive staff as well as law enforcement.

The conference will begin with the Director's Reception Tuesday evening, Aug. 31, and conclude with a closing session on Thursday, Sept. 2.

Registration is now open. Those interested should register early because space is limited. The deadline to pre-register is Aug. 16, 2010. The pre-registration process consists of mailing a $95 check or money order along with a completed registration form to:
