Springfield – July 31, 2012 - The Illinois Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) recently recognized IDOC Chief of Investigations and Intelligence Larry Beck with the Patriotic Employer Award for his outstanding support of IDOC employee Kehinde Salami.  The Patriotic Employer Award publicly recognizes employers for their exceptional patriotic support and cooperation to their employees.

Salami, who serves as master sergeant with the Illinois National Guard, nominated Beck for the award in appreciation for his support and understanding he receives from him and the Illinois Department of Corrections while he is away on active duty.  Salami is currently serving in Egypt.

The Patriotic Employer award plaque, presented by the Office of the Secretary of Defense, ESGR, recognized Beck "for contributing to national security and protecting liberty and freedom by supporting employee participation in America's National Guard and Reserve Force."

During the Patriotic Employer Award presentation to Beck, IDOC also acknowledged the continued importance of the National Guard and Reserve in their essential role of defense to our nation and well-being of our communities and pledged its support to the country’s service members and their families in peace, crisis and war.
