SPRINGFIELD – March 19, 2014 – Illinois Department of Corrections Director S.A. “Tony” Godinez commended three agency employees today for their outstanding performance within the agency’s Investigations and Intelligence Unit. The director presented each employee with a 2014 Officer of the Year plaque honoring them for their exemplary leadership and diligence.

“Promoting public safety and maintaining the safety, security and integrity of the Illinois Department of Corrections are the utmost goals of the agency. I commend these three employees for their high level of commitment as well as their proactive approach of carrying out their responsibilities in preventing, addressing and combating misconduct,” said Godinez. “Their resilient efforts and selfless dedication are instrumental in ensuring effective operations of the department.”

The three IDOC employees receiving commendations were:

External Investigator of the Year Dottie Culkin

Intelligence Officer of the Year Correctional Officer Donald Terry of Sheridan Correctional Center

Internal Affairs Officer of the Year Lieutenant Harold Schuler of Big Muddy River Correctional Center
