WILMINGTON, Ill. – A suburban Chicago company plans to buy 50 acres in Wilmington to open a maintenance center this fall.

Illinois Lt. Gov. Sheila Simon's office says The Infinity Group's project would create 50 mechanic's jobs in a first phase and another possible 50 jobs in its second phase. Simon says she supports the Frankfort company's initiative at the former Joliet Arsenal and ammunition plant.

Simon toured several developments at the former arsenal on Thursday.

The Frankfort business' investment is valued at $15 million. The Infinity Group has the option to buy an additional 150 acres for expansion.

Simon's office says the new maintenance center would service freight containers, chassis and tractor trailers. It would include a 30,000-square-foot building, 14-bay repair facility and a storage area.
