SPRINGFIELD – June 22, 2011. As chair of the Wabash and Ohio Rivers Coordinating Council, Lt. Governor Sheila Simon is seeking input from residents on water related issues. The brief survey will be used to help develop a Wabash River Watershed Plan.
“The Wabash and Ohio Rivers, and their tributaries, are of vital importance to the ecosystem and economy of Illinois,” Simon said. “I look forward to receiving feedback from the community so the Council can work to outline goals and initiatives to protect our rivers and waterways.”
The Council works with residents and the community to coordinate initiatives, projects and funding to increase awareness and promote the ecological health of the Wabash and Ohio Rivers.
Residents of Champaign, Clark, Clay, Coles, Crawford, Cumberland, Edgar, Edwards, Effingham, Ford, Hamilton, Jasper, Lawrence, Richland, Vermilion, Wabash, Wayne of White counties are eligible to participate.
