Lt. Gov. Sheila Simon will be issuing a proclamation Tuesday to honor Creal Springs School's recent achievement in conservation for the Cache River Wetlands.

Simon will declare July 12 'Creal Springs School Day' during Tuesday's Mississippi River Coordinating Council meeting. The proclamation recognizes the achievements of the students, who won the $20,000 grand prize in the Disney Planet Challenge in May, she said.

The students spent the last two years working on a variety of conservation projects in the Cache River Wetlands.

Simon chairs the MRCC, founded in 2010 to coordinate initiatives, projects and funding to promote the ecological health of the Mississippi River and its tributaries.
