Lt. Governor Simon chairs the Wabash and Ohio Rivers Coordinating Council, composed of a diverse group of citizens, not-for-profit organizations, and state and federal agencies. Through a public dialogue, the Council coordinates initiatives, projects and funding to promote the ecological health of the Wabash and Ohio River and its tributaries by addressing the issues in the watershed.
Established in 2010, the Wabash and Ohio Rivers Coordinating Council is modeled after the successful Illinois River Coordinating Council and charged with coordinating policies and programs that work with residents and communities to increase awareness of and address the environmental and economic issues of the Wabash and Ohio Rivers watersheds in this rural area of Illinois.
