How do navigation buttons work?

Basic course buttons are at the bottom of each page.

NOTE: The Next button will be disabled  (and will appear grayed out) on those pages where you must complete some action, such as respond to a question or to read additional information, before continuing to the next page. Once you have completed the required action, the Next button will allow you to move forward. If you click a disabled Next button you will get a message that explains what must be accomplished before continuing.

What do I do if I cannot view the training materials properly (e.g., the print is too big for screen or elements seem to be missing)?

If, for example, you can't view all the text on a page and a horizontal scroll bar appears, then check the display and browser settings on your computer. Follow the steps below or contact your agency's help desk.

Are your display settings set to at least 800x600?

  1. Click on Start in your Windows menu bar
  2. Select Settings from the menu; then select Control Panel; window displays
  3. Double click Display
  4. Click on the Settings tab
  5. Set your screen size to 800x600 or higher if it is on another setting
  6. Click OK

Is your computer system font size set to Normal?

  1. Click on Start in your Windows menu bar
  2. Select Settings from the menu; then select Control Panel; window displays
  3. Double click Display
  4. Click on the Settings tab
  5. Click on Advanced
  6. Select "Normal Size" if it is not displayed
  7. Click OK twice

Is your browser text size set to Medium?

  1. Open a browser (e.g., Internet Explorer)
  2. On the toolbar, click on View menu option
  3. Select Text Size Medium

How do I navigate through the training program?

Once you have selected the appropriate training course, click on “Take Course” button to begin.

The next screen you will see is the Table of Contents. The course is broken down into sections. Click on "Introduction" to begin. To page through the course, click the next and previous buttons (at bottom of each screen) as needed.

When you are done with a section of the course, the Table of Contents will indicate with a check mark, next to the appropriate section title, that you have completed that element of the training. To proceed to the next section of the training, click on its title in the Table of Contents.

Should you decide to leave the Ethics Training and Compliance Center. Before completing the course, it will remember and "bookmark" where you left off should you wish to finish the training at a later time.

If you want to view a list of the Facts or FAQ’s, select "References" located at the top of the course window to display links to any of the supplementary materials.


What should I do if the ETCC site is loading slowly or I cannot reach the ETCC site?

  1. Close and re-open your browser (e.g., Internet Explorer) and then try accessing the ETCC again. If this does not resolve the problem, proceed to step 2.
  2. Check to see if you can access other Internet/Intranet sites (e.g., Yahoo.com, CNN.com). If you experience problems in reaching other sites, then contact your agency's help desk, since it is possible that there is a problem with your path to the internet or your personal computer. Otherwise, proceed to step 3.
  3. Reboot your computer, If this doesn't fix the problem contact your agency's help desk.

What are the minimum platform requirements for taking the course?

Your workstation must have a Web browser, Netscape 7.0 or higher, Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher, Mozilla 1.0, Safari 2.0.2 and any operating system supporting one of these browsers. These browsers must allow first-party cookies and the use of JavaScript to enable correct navigation and tracking within the Ethics Training and Compliance Center. The Ethics Training and Compliance Center does not make use of plug-ins, ActiveX controls, or Java, and has very low bandwidth requirements (56K or greater), in order to allow as wide a client base as possible.

Do I have to answer the certification question?

When you have finished carefully reading the course materials, in order to receive credit for completing the course, you must provide certification of your completion. The process is automated and will require you to respond positively (by selecting "Yes") to the following certification statement at the end of the course.

"I certify that I have carefully read and reviewed the content of, and completed the 2010 Ethics Training Program for state Employees. Furthermore, I certify that I understand my failure to comply with the laws, rules, policies, and procedures referred to within this training course may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of state employment/appointment, administrative fine, and possible criminal prosecution, depending on the nature of the violation."


How can I verify that I have received credit for completing the course?

 

  1. Close the course window to reveal the My Records button, which is located on the left side of the ETCC (main training center) window.  
  2. Click on the My Records button and then click on the phrase “Development Record”, to display the appropriate course title.
