After graduating Salutatorian of her high school class in Beardstown, Lanie earned a double-degree in Management and Organizational Leadership as well as Philosophy at Illinois College, where she graduated with honors. While at Illinois College, Lanie was heavily involved with several campus organizations including Student Activities Board, Student Ambassadors, and Homecoming Committee. She served as the president of Student Alumni Association and Peer Health Educators, through which she became a Certified Peer Educator in order to improve the life of students on campus through health and lifestyle education. Her new student orientation program “Think B4 You Act,” received national accolades through the BACCHUS Network. Lanie also served as an AmeriCorps member while at her alma mater, serving a year with Boys and Girls Club of Central Illinois. Lanie finished her Masters in Public Administration degree at University of Illinois Springfield in 2014 while serving as a Graduate Public Service Intern at Serve Illinois. She is currently the Resources and Information Manager for the commission.
