There are numerous benefits Illinois Veterans have earned and are entitled to receive and are not always aware of how to access them. Helping Our Hometown Heroes assists Illinois Veterans with information on those issues from a variety of vendors, including Social Security, healthcare, housing, unemployment benefits, and specialty programs available for minority, women, disabled and homeless veterans. Veteran Service Officers are your local resource to all of the benefits that are out there to serve Veterans – federal, state and local. Utilizing the VA can be overwhelming, and we want everyone to know that they have an advocate close by in the Illinois Dept of Veterans' Affairs who can help them navigate through the VA system.
