ALERT on Sexual Harassment Prevention Training Law: Public Act 101-0221 amended the Illinois Human Rights Act ("IHRA") requiring: Illinois employers to provide annual sexual harassment prevention training by December 31, 2020 and annually thereafter; restaurants and bars to establish and disseminate a written policy on sexual harassment prevention training and provide "supplemental" sexual harassment prevention training; and the Illinois Department of Human Rights ("IDHR") to develop a model sexual harassment prevention training program for use by employers. Employers may develop their own sexual harassment prevention training program that equals or exceeds the minimum standards for sexual harassment prevention training outlined in Section 2-109(B) and/or Section 2-110(C) of IHRA.
About The Institute for Training and Development
Welcome to the Institute for Training and Development ("Training Institute") at the Illinois Department of Human Rights ("IDHR"). The Training Institute offers a wide range of trainings related to the Illinois Human Rights Act ("IHRA") and workplace trends centered on issues of discrimination in the workplace. These courses are designed to increase knowledge, awareness and prevention of discrimination and harassment issues and offer solutions to employers and employees on how to appropriately respond to situations as they arise. The Training Institute also offers courses on staff development and workplace challenges. Courses are offered to private-sector, government, and public participants throughout the State of Illinois.

Requests for Customized Training
IDHR's Training Institute will bring customized training to your location and can tailor a number of course offerings to fit unique organizational needs. All offsite classes require a minimum enrollment. Class fees include pre-training consultation to discuss areas requiring customization and desired class length, emphasis, and dates. All training materials are also included in the class fee. Customized training option is great for employers who are seeking mandatory training for employees.
