​Realizing the benefits of technology, the DOC determined that its employees were unnecessarily spending an average of 17 minutes filling out paper versions of the Escape Designation form. When multiplying this figure out by the 21,000 times a year that employees fill out the form, DOC staff ended up saving 4,200 man hours annually by simply developing and using an electronic version of the Escape Designation form.  Additionally, DOC determined it will save $15,000 per year in paper costs and nearly 1,300 man hours by simply providing applicant screening packets via email versus sending them through USPS.
