Reducing Recidivism Through Illinois ID Cards

Evaluating the variables in recidivism rates amongst juveniles, the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice (IDJJ), in conjunction with the Illinois Secretary of State, is easing the for obtaining an Illinois ID card. Previously, requirements dictated that youth would have to produce a certified birth certificate or social security card. Juveniles will now have the option to receive a temporary ID Card for 90 days with the IDJJ verified documents while the youth produce the birth certificate or social security card for a standard issued ID. This will make the process easier for youth while also waiving the fee requirement so that it is more cost effective.
