SPRINGFIELD - August 5, 2013. Illinois Department on Aging (IDoA) will again host activities for seniors and their families during the Illinois State Fair, August 8 - 18, in Springfield. IDoA will offer a special lineup of events in the senior center, which is the air conditioned setting of the Illinois Building located near the main gate of the fairgrounds. Attendees 60 years of age and older will be admitted free to the fair on Senior Day which is Monday August 12.
"Each year our staff and partners do a great job hosting activities and entertainment. I look forward to having fun while offering information about programs and services to benefit older adults and their families," said IDoA Director John K. Holton, Ph.D.
Some department programs include home and community assistance and services for reported cases of abuse through the newly created Office of Adult Protective Services.
