  • December 29 – Governor Blagojevich reminds seniors to enroll in Medicare Part D by December 31 deadline to avoid financial penalty
  • December 28 –Gov. Blagojevich reminds public about new laws that takes effect January 1, 2007. New laws will protect seniors and homeowners, strengthen monitoring of sex offenders, help children and benefit hardworking citizens all around the state
  • December 14 – Department on Aging inducts four into Senior Hall of Fame and presents Governor’s Unique Achievement Awards
  • December 6 – Governor Blagojevich urges seniors to apply for Illinois’ Medicare wrap-around prescription drug coverage by December 8

November 2006

  • November 28 – Gov. Blagojevich’s nominee for Director of Veterans’ Affairs, Tammy Duckworth, urges Illinois House to pass Property Tax Cap bill to help Illinois Veterans

February 2006

  • February 15 – Governor Blagojevich proposes preschool for all in Fiscal Year 2007 budget. Governor’s budget includes universal pre-school, funds critical stem cell research, and creates the Prairie State DNA Institute; Governor’s plan streamlines taxes and regulations to save professionals time and money and streamlines state government to improve efficiency

  • February 2 – Gov. Blagojevich announces expansion at LaSalle Veterans’ Home to give more aging Illinois veterans access to long-term care

January 2006

  • January 24 – Delegates from Illinois to guide public policy for aging
  • January 21 – Gov. Blagojevich announces new series of statewide Keep Warm Illinois Energy Saving Workshops. Community workshops offer Illinoisans ways to reduce home energy costs
  • January 12 – Governor Blagojevich announces emergency measure to ensure no low-income Medicare Part D beneficiary is turned away at pharmacy. Illinois is first highly populated state to provide critical protection to dual eligibles while kinks in federal program are being addressed
