Cleverdon, Lynne

Lynne Cleverdon, and her husband David both participated in the Mississippi Freedom Summer, an effort in 1964 to register that state's disenfranchised African-American population. They returned to Chicago, Illinois in late 1964, and over the next several years both became involved in Democratic politics, including a stint working for Congressman Abner Mikva, and culminating in David's involvement with Dan Walker's campaign for Governor in 1972. Lynne also taught elementary school for a time on the south side of Chicago.
