    WBDC: ScaleUp Program

    The Women’s Business Development Center (WBDC) is proud to present our virtual ScaleUp Summer program, sponsored by The Coleman Foundation. ScaleUp is an award winning intensive 9-week cohort based curriculum that is designed to assist established, Chicagoland businesses that are experiencing a no/slow growth pattern and sustainability issues due to COVID-19. Through the delivery of comprehensive and extensive business development services, ScaleUp equips entrepreneurs with the business/financial acumen, resources and tools necessary to maintain profitable businesses that retain and create jobs, fuel economic growth and build strong communities.

    In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the WBDC is pivoting to present our regional signature events as a virtual series, WBDC Summer Summit: Innovation. Transformation. Resurgence.     LGBT Chamber of Commerce of Illinois Presents Mix & Mingle Happy Hour

    Join the LGBT Chamber of Commerce of Illinois at our first virtual Mix & Mingle. We will come together for a DIY wine glass painting experience, and small room networking opportunities. Attendees will be joined by Julie Langrehr with the City of Chicago Department of Procurement Services. Julie will provide an update on the city's survey to study its spending with LGBTQ+ owned businesses. Guests are encouraged to RSVP by July 7th.     Business Enterprise Program (BEP) & Veteran Business Program (VBP) Certification Workshop

    In partnership with the ChicagoMBDA Center Operated by ChicagoMSDC- the State of Ilinois Central Managment Services' (CMS) Business Enterprise Program (BEP) & Veteran Business Program (VBP) workshops are designed to provide information on the certification process. The State of Illinois provides the following certifications: • Women Owned Business Enterprise (WBE) • Minority Owned Business Enterprise (MBE) • Person with Disability Owned Business Enterprise (PBE) The VBP provides certification to Veteran and Service Disabled Veteran Owned Businesses. CMS/BEP also has a streamlined recognition process with other MBE & WBE certifying entities. A representative from the Illinois Department of Human Services will be there to speak about projected procurement opportunities within their department

    Is 8(a) Certification Right For You?

    Learn how to become certified as an 8(a) business to work with the government. The 8a Business Development Program is a business assistance program for small, disadvantaged businesses. The 8(a) program offers a broad scope of assistance to firms that are owned and controlled at least 51% by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals; business counseling, training, and financial assistance.
