Virtual Trade Missions

The Illinois Office of Trade & Investment continues to actively offer opportunities to Illinois businesses interested in developing and growing their international sales. In this time of decreased international travel, OTI offers qualified Illinois firms virtual platforms to meet with interested foreign buyers. This section is updated regularly as OTI confirms participation to virtual trade shows.

Trade Show of the Americas: Colombia | June 24-26, 2020
Participating Illinois small businesses receive a virtual booth presence, six pre-scheduled meetings with potential clients, and several opportunities to grow your network in Colombia and the greater Latin American markets. Target industries include: agribusiness, automotive parts, construction, security and defense, technology and communication, services, and tourism. Colombia is becoming one of Latin America’s most attractive destination for international exporters as the fourth largest economy in Latin America. Vietnam Multi-Sector Mission: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam l November 18 – 20, 2019
Over the course of three days, mission participants will attend group and customized one-on-one meetings potential business partners. A successful trade mission lays the foundation for the identification and development of a strong platform for increased exports. Over the last 10 years, American exports to Vietnam increased by 330%. Illinois companies are increasingly looking towards Vietnam as a key component to their growth strategies in Asia. $365 million dollars of Illinois products was exported to Vietnam in 2017. This trade mission is a multi-sector mission and is open to qualified Illinois small businesses.

MEDICA 2019: Dusseldorf, Germany l November 18 – 21, 2019
MEDICA is the world’s largest exposition for the hospital and outpatient medical care industry. All sectors of the medical field are represented with more than 5,100 exhibitors and 120,000 trade visitors from 130 countries. Illinois companies that exhibit can gain access to markets all over the world.

Arab Health 2019: Dubai, UAE l January 27 – 30, 2020
This is the largest, and most comprehensive, healthcare exhibition in the Middle East and the second largest in the world. In its 45th year it is expected to attract more than 106,500 healthcare professionals to visit with 4,250 exhibitors. The regional industry is worth $100 billion per year. Approximately 20% of all healthcare seekers are from the Gulf and Arab states, with UAE patients alone estimated to be spending over $2 billion on medical travel every year.

Mobile World Congress: Barcelona, Spain l February 24 – 27, 2020
Mobile World Congress is the world’s largest annual gathering for the mobile communication and information technology industry.  2,400 exhibitors and over 107,000 attendees from 200 countries are expected at this show. This trade show presents a unique opportunity for Illinois’ companies that manufacture mobile information and communication technology components and devices, as well as systems, applications and software developers to launch new products to a global audience.

Africa Multi-Sector Trade Mission: Kenya & Tanzania l March 9 – 18, 2020
Kenya has a market-based economy and is considered the economic, commercial, financial and logistics hub of East Africa. With the strongest industrial base in East Africa, Kenya has been successful in attracting U.S. exporters. More U.S. companies are exporting to Kenya to take advantage of Kenya’s strategic location, diversified economy, entrepreneurial workforce, comprehensive air routes, and status as a regional financial center.

Tanzania is one of the 10 fastest growing economies in the world. Tanzania has an ambitious industrialization plan to transform into a middle-income economy by 2030. U.S. exporters and service providers interested in exploring commercial opportunities in sub-Saharan Africa should strongly consider Tanzania as their federal government is focusing on developing local industries and making large investments in infrastructure and energy sector development, which present opportunities for U.S. exports.

SIAL Canada: Montreal, Canada l April 15 – 17, 2020
SIAL Canada is Canada’s largest trade show for the retail and foodservice industries. In 2018, the show had over 1,000 exhibitors from 50 different countries, and there were more than 18,000 visitors from more than 60 countries. Canada is the ideal market to target U.S. food exports with its close proximity, common language and similar culture. EXPOMIN 2020: Santiago, Chile l April 20 – 24, 2020
Latin America's largest mining fair is well established as a space that promotes the exchange of knowledge, experience and especially technology. EXPOMIN gathers all the key sector players and attracts the largest concentration of world-class local and international supply companies. EXPOMIN has global attendance, gathering over 1,200 exhibitors and 70,000 visitors.

IE Expo: Shanghai, China l April 21 – 23, 2020
China is the largest and fastest growing market for environmental technologies.  It is estimated that China’s environmental investment in the coming years will be nearly $1.3– 1.6 trillion. An estimated $286 billion will be spent on the air pollution sector, $315 billion will be spent on the water sector, and another $315 billion spent on the soil pollutions sector. The Chinese environmental industry has kept 20% annual growth rate from 2004 to 2017 and it is expected to keep the growth rate between 20% and 30% to 2020.

Expo Pack is one of the most recognized trade events showcasing the latest solutions in packaging and processing machinery, materials, and containers.
