From Momence, take Highway 114 east 6 miles to a county road. Turn north on this road and go 0.75 mile. The preserve is on the west side of the road.
These wetlands along the Kankakee River contain trees commonly associated with floodplains. These include green ash, sycamore, silver maple and eastern cottonwood. Other trees present in the area are pumpkin ash and swamp cottonwood, species which are more commonly associated with southern Illinois. Storax was discovered here last year. In Illinois, this plant is largely confined to the counties in the extreme southern part of the state.
