The mesic prairie remnant at this site is representative of the prairies of the Grand Prairie Division of Illinois. Big bluestem, Indian grass, northern dropseed and bluejoint are grasses which are present along with numerous prairie wildflowers, including prairie dock, compass plant, leadplant, pale coneflower, rattlesnake master, prairie gentian and rough and prairie blazingstars. Recent management efforts, including prescribed burning and brush removal, have improved the quality of the prairie.
