IDNR and BMDD Resorts Sign Agreement for Redevelopment, Operation of Eagle Creek Resort and Conference Center
Golf course expected to reopen this summer

SPRINGFIELD, IL – The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) today announced approval of an agreement with BMDD Resorts Corporation of Decatur for redevelopment and operation of the Eagle Creek Resort and Conference Center, the lodge and golf course complex located on Lake Shelbyville at Eagle Creek State Recreation Area in Shelby County.

“This is exciting news for Eagle Creek State Recreation Area and the Lake Shelbyville region as the agreement clears the way for millions of dollars in private investment in the complex – and the reopening of the resort, which will provide a huge boost to the area economy and create jobs,” said IDNR Director Marc Miller.  “BMDD Resorts Corporation has pledged improvements that will make Eagle Creek Resort the perfect destination for golfers, anglers, business meetings, and family vacations.”

Work will begin immediately on redevelopment of the lodge and conference center facility, which could reopen in 2011, while the 18-hole championship golf course should be reopened for play this summer.  The complex was closed in July 2009.

BMDD Resorts Corporation plans a multi-phase redevelopment project for the complex, including roof replacement; mold remediation; replacement of furniture, fixtures, and mechanical systems; complete guest room renovations; kitchen, conference room and restaurant and lounge renovations; indoor pool facility rehabilitation; and, golf course repairs and improvements.

The Eagle Creek Resort includes a lodge with 138 guest rooms, 10 suites with fireplaces and a private patio, a lobby, indoor pool complex, kitchen and dining facilities, lounge, conference center meeting rooms, and gift shop; an adjacent “Eagles Landing” building with eight connecting guest rooms and a second-story balcony with a lakefront view, conference area and wet bar; an 18-hole championship golf course with pro shop; a boat docking system accessing Lake Shelbyville; and, an outdoor pool with 11,000 square feet of deck space and an adjacent outdoor miniature golf course.

Eagle Creek Resort and Conference Center is one of nine IDNR concessionaire-operated state park lodge facilities.

The 2,200-acre Eagle Creek State Recreation Area – and the adjoining Wolf Creek State Park – on the shores of Lake Shelbyville offers a wide array of outdoor recreation opportunities including boating, fishing, hiking, camping, and hunting.
