Did you know that July 31st is World Ranger Day, celebrating rangers throughout the world that help educate, protect, and conserve our natural resources, plants, trees, and wildlife?!

Starved Rock State Park is celebrating World Ranger Day by hosting Junior Ranger Day on Saturday, July 30th from 9-noon at Starved Rock State Park.  Come on out with your family and participate in the Junior Ranger program on site, visit our educational and informational tables at the Eagle's Roost Cabin behind the visitor center, meet and greet Smoky the Bear and Sadie the Starved Rock Eagle, and take a guided hike at 9 a.m.  Every child who has completed the Junior Ranger activity booklet will be sworn in as a Junior Ranger at noon by Sergeant Wire of the IDNR Conservation Police!  Program is FREE!  The 10 a.m. guided hikes can take up to 30 people maximum each (2 hikes, first come first serve at 10 a.m. only).
