Date(s):

10/14/2022
Description:
Join us for stargazing with retired Western Illinois University astronomy instructor Tom Van Heuklon and hobby astronomist Larry Knicl.
Visitors will have an opportunity to observe Venus, Saturn, Jupiter and Neptune; the moon; deep-sky objects such as star clusters, nebulae and other galaxies; and the varying seasonal constellations.
Program will take place at the parking lot near the park's Sunset Shelter (first left turn upon entering the park). Visitors are asked to bring a chair or blanket, insect repellent and a flashlight.
To comply with COVID-19 guidelines, observing will be done using a laptop rather than a telescope eyepiece. In the event of inclement weather or poor visibility, program may be canceled and participants will be notified.
