2019 Request For Proposals

2019 Notice of Funding Opportunity 

IDNR Coastal Management Program is accepting pre-applications for grant-funded projects to start in fall 2019. We will award grants to projects that protect, preserve, and restore the natural and cultural resources along the Illinois Lake Michigan shoreline.​


Funding priorities:

     1) Improving the health of the coast and Lake Michigan;

     2) Enhancing coastal public access, recreation, and coastal-dependent economic development;

     3) Advancing coastal community resilience;

     4) 2019 special funding category: Beach management planning.

Program Details
Grant Period:  18 months, (Fall 2019 through Spring 2021)

Grant Amounts: $1,000 to $100,000

Match:  1:1 non-federal match required for most grants*  

Total Funding Available: Dependent upon federal funding. Past grant rounds have awarded between $550,000 and $975,000 per funding year. 

Eligible Applicants: Units of Local Government, Universities, and 501(c)3 Non-Profits

Grant consultations: All potential applicants​ are invited to sign up for a consultation about your project idea before January 4th, 2019. Signup online or by contacting Lisa.Cotner@illinois.gov. 

The pre-application submission deadline is January 18, 2019


*Government entities in Economically Challenged Communities require a 1:3 match.  See Funding Guidelines for further details. ​​​
