Project T-129-R1

Project Title: Population Demography of Bird-voiced Treefrogs in Southern Illinois

Community and/or Species Focus: Treefrogs

Goals/Objectives:
  1. Collect and analyze hydrologic and habitat data across a gradient of bottomland forest an swamp sites in southern Illinois
  2. Collect and analyze population-level data for Bird-voiced Treefrogs in southern Illinois
  3. Collect and analyze demographic data for Bird-voiced Treefrogs in southern Illinois
  4. Provide a species assessment based on vital demographic rates
Achievements:
  1. Assessment of the impact of water level fluctuations on habitat conditions in southern Illinois bottomland forests and swamps using Bird-voiced Treefrogs as an indicator
  2. Recommendations on ideal habitat conditions and hydrologic functions in bottomland forests and swamps for use in wetland restoration projects aimed at returning sites to historical conditions
  3. Population assessment and estimates of target Bird-voiced Treefrogs in southern Illinois
  4. Demographic assessment of population viability parameters of Bird-voiced Treefrogs in southern Illinois
  5. Updated status assessment of Bird-voiced Treefrogs in southern Illinois
