The area lies along the west edge of Lake Shelbyville and is characterized by wooded ravines, prairie restorations and native grass plantings, and wildlife food/cover plots. A golf course and lodge occupy the south part of the park.

Statewide regulations shall apply at sites where windshield cards are issued, except that hunters must obtain a windshield card online from the Department website at https://dnr2.illinois.gov/windshieldcard/. This windshield card must be displayed under the vehicle windshield, face up, with the permit number visible and the pocket portion in possession while hunting at the site. Hunters must report their annual harvest online (even if the hunter did not hunt) by February 15, or two weeks after the season closes for those seasons ending after February 1. Hunters shall forfeit their hunting privileges at the site for the following year if they fail to report by the above deadline.

SITE REGULATIONS:

  1. Hunting is prohibited where posted and within 100 yards of any public use facility. Boundaries are marked. If unsure of site boundaries, contact site office for assistance. Avoid trespassing or hunting on lodge and golf course leased property.
  2. No pistols or air guns are permitted. Twenty two (.22) caliber rimfire rifles are allowed for Raccoon hunting.
  3. No trapping is allowed.
  4. No firearm deer hunting is allowed on site - ARCHERY ONLY. Hunting from permanent stands is prohibited. No nails, screw in foot pegs, or other piercing devices are allowed. Tree stands must be portable and removed daily.
  5. Deer hunters must have permission of resort to track deer on the Resort and Golf Course property.
  6. Upland game hunters must wear a cap and upper garment of blaze orange (minimum 400 square inches).
  7. Waterfowl hunters must set up no fewer than 200 yards from other hunters, developed recreational areas, construction or industrial sites.

  8. Waterfowl hunting on Lake Shelbyville-park boundary only.

Active habitat management will be occurring throughout the year on the site.
