NOTICE: Due to the Illinois National Guard's training needs Marseilles State Fish and Wildlife Area will be closed to hunting November 7th, 8th & 9th, 2022.
Tree stands can not be placed on MSFWA property until Monday, October 4th, this year.
MSFWA will be closed to all public access on Thursday, October 14th, and Thursday, October 21st, due to military training exercises.
All hunting programs are dependent on national security considerations. In the event that heightened security measures are necessary, these hunting programs will be closed with little or no notice. Any closure will be posted at the site, on the department website (www.dnr.state.il.us), and will be announced through press release.
Location: LaSalle County, 5 miles south of Interstate 80, 2 miles south of the City of Marseilles.
Description: Total acres 2,515 Huntable Acres - 2,239 Habitat Types - Timber – 1900, Grasslands – 300, Wetland/lake - 39 The site is predominately wooded and the terrain is fairly rugged. There is no interior vehicle access. Hunters who use this area should be ready for strenuous walking if they hunt the interior. The Illinois National Guard has jurisdictional use of this site for the months of February through October. Active habitat management will be occurring throughout the year on the site.

ATTENTION DOVE & SQUIRREL HUNTERS:
The National Guard trains more heavily on weekends and for that reason the site is closed to hunting on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from SEPT 1 to OCT 31 of each year

Squirrel - Shotgun only. Closed during all firearm deer seasons. Shot size: Lead: #6 or smaller, steel: #4 or smaller. Season opens Sept.1 & closes the first Thursday after January 10.

Pheasant, Quail & Rabbit - Closed during all site firearm deer seasons. Shot size: lead #5 or smaller, steel #3 or smaller. Blaze orange cap and upper garment required. Season: Statewide open to the first Thursday after January 10.

Coyote - Closed during all site firearm deer seasons. Season opens November 5 & closes the first Thursday after January 10. Hunting hours are one-half hour before sunrise to one-half hour after sunset. Shotgun with shot shells only. Use of dogs is prohibited. All coyote harvests must be removed from site.
