requesting Offers (bids/proposals) from responsible Vendors
to meet the State's needs. Below is a brief description of
our needs with detailed requirements in subsequent sections
of this solicitation. If you are interested and able to meet

The State of Illinois, Department of Natural Resources (DNR), will accept proposals from responsible Vendors interested in the operation of a canoe livery, restaurant, bait shop and boat rental services at Kickapoo State Recreation Area located in Oakwood, Illinois. The concession operation at Kickapoo State Recreation Area will be authorized to rent, sell, serve or dispense food, confections, hot and cold nonalcoholic beverages, souvenirs, canoe, kayak and boat rental, boating equipment, fishing and hunting licenses, marine, fishing, picnic and camping supplies and to install vending machines at locations determined by the Site Superintendent.
Kickapoo State Recreation Area is located in Vermilion County, near Danville in Eastern Illinois. Kickapoo State Recreation Area’s 2,842 acres provide an outdoor playground with something to appeal to every member of the family. Twenty two deep water ponds, ranging in size from 0.2 of an acre to 57 acres, provide a total of 221 acres of water for boaters, canoeists and anglers. Lushly forested uplands and bottomlands along the Middle Fork of the Vermilion River is habitat for enough birds, wildlife and wildflowers to please any nature lover, while nature trails, biking trails and running trails provide pathways to inspiration and physical fitness. In addition, there are facilities for camping and picnicking.
A mandatory vendor conference will be held October 22, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at the Kickapoo State Recreational Area Park Office. See Section 1.4 of the Request for Proposal solicitation document.
