The Department of Natural Resources is
requesting Offers (bids/proposals) from responsible Vendors
to meet the State's needs. Below is a brief description of
our needs with detailed requirements in subsequent sections
of this solicitation. If you are interested and able to meet
these requirements, please submit an Offer.
The State of Illinois, Department of Natural Resources (DNR), will accept proposals from responsible Vendors interested in the operation of a restaurant, marina and swimming beach concession at Stephen A. Forbes State Park located in Kinmundy, Illinois. The concession operation at Stephen A. Forbes State Park will be authorized to rent, sell, serve or dispense food, confections, hot and cold nonalcoholic beverages, beer, wine and wine products with food service, packaged beer and wine products and wine, ice, gasoline, dock space, boats, canoes, bicycles, paddle boats, water bikes, boating equipment, fishing and hunting licenses, bait, fishing, picnic and camping supplies, tobacco products, selected souvenirs and novelties in good character, newspapers, post cards, State of Illinois lottery tickets, local Native Illinois Firewood and to place electronic/video games. The vendor will also seasonally operate and manage the swimming beach and will collect the beach fees.
Stephen A. Forbes State Park, located 15 miles northeast of Salem, is a 3,100 acre multi-recreational facility which has 115 camping sites. A 585-acre lake provides water based recreation, which includes fishing, swimming, water skiing, and boating. Camping, picnicking, hiking, horseback riding, and hunting are other popular activities available.
Park attendance in 2011 was 389,636.
Park attendance in 2012 was 333,180.
