The Illinois EPA laboratory is nationally accredited by the National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (NELAP) Institute and U.S. EPA Region V, as the State Primacy Laboratory. The laboratory annually analyzes more than a quarter million samples of a variety of matrices, such as drinking water, wastewater, soil, rivers, lakes and streams, taken by field staff or submitted from public water supplies. The laboratory is the state’s gold standard for the analysis of environmental samples, providing the critical data needed to enable leadership to make decisions that impact the environment and the citizens of Illinois.
