Counties, municipal joint action agencies and municipalities who wish to participate in the manufacturer e-waste program must complete the Opt-In Form to Illinois EPA and the manufacturer e-waste program contact by March 1 of the preceding year (ex: due date for program year 2021 is March 1, 2020).
Based upon the population density within the participating county, outlined in Section 1-15 of CERA, a certain number of sites and/or events are granted.
Manufacturers are financially responsible for the packaging and shipment materials provided to collectors, transportation of covered electronic devices (CEDs) from collector to recycler and the subsequent recycling of these CEDs that are collected at program collection sites and events.
