Date: June 29, 2021
This
notice informs Supportive Living Program (SLP) Dementia Care Settings (DCS)
providers that the Illinois Statewide Transition Plan for the Home and
Community Based Services (HCBS) Waiver has been reviewed by the federal Centers
for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and it has determined the SLP DCS to
be out of compliance.
CMS
has determined that SLP DCS participants, or potential participants, cannot be
required to have an identified need for delayed egress as a safety intervention
to receive SLP DCS services.
Participants,
or potential participants, of the SLP DCS who receive an Elopement Risk
Assessment according to program rules and do not require delayed egress as a
needed safety intervention shall be allowed to receive SLP waiver services.
These
participants, or potential participants may:
· still
choose to reside in the SLP DCS
· leave
the building independently at any time they choose
· have
their designated representative, if known, provided with referral information
to other service options, including services in the conventional SLP setting.
This
change is applicable to Medicaid fee-for-service participants and managed care enrollees.
The
Public Notice and the proposed waiver amendment will be available on the
