The Departments of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) and Human Services (DHS) continue to review operational procedures and identify ways to improve efficiency. This Notice informs Long Term Care (LTC) providers that effective September 1, 2021, the Medical Field Operations (MFO) – Downstate #163 office caseworkers will be moving from "task-based" to "facility-based" assignments. This change is intended to increase productivity and more evenly distribute workflow. Workflow for the MFO Downstate #163 office will be based upon the DHS Region of the county in which the facility is located.
This change applies to LTC providers located in the following counties - only:

In addition, in order to direct emails accurately and efficiently, while ensuring that the resident's Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) information is protected, please include only the name of the facility with the resident's IES case number or the resident's Recipient Identification Number (RIN) in the Subject Line of the email.

This notice serves as a reminder to utilize the DHS Central Scanning Unit as described in the Provider Notice dated 04/29/2021 and the ABE Partner Portal as described in the Provider Notice dated 02/14/2020 for uploading documents to a resident's case record.
