Date:   June 30, 2022

To:       Enrolled Transportation Providers

Re:      Publicly Owned Transportation Providers – Ground Emergency Medical Transportation (GEMT) Payment Updates

 ________________________________________________________________________________________________________

This notice informs providers of a deadline extension for making Ground Emergency Medical Transportation (GEMT) payments to the Department due to Department error in calculating some amounts due for the 3rd and 4th quarters of 2021

Because of these errors, HFS has experienced delays in issuing corrected and detailed invoices. Recognizing the need for municipalities to often get their Board approval for payments, HFS is extending the payment deadline for Quarters 3 and 4 of 2021 to July 31, 2022.

HFS will notify each municipality that is affected by this error.

As stated in the June 14, 2022 provider notice, JetPay and checks are the only methods of payment. The link to the JetPay website for making payments is:

https://epayGEMT.illinois.gov

Local Governments that would like to pay via check should email HFS at HFS.GEMT@illinois.gov to verify their amount due. To pay via check, send checks notating GEMT payment to:

Bureau of Fiscal Operations – GEMT
PO Box 19491
Springfield, IL 62794-9491

Those providers who made payments and are determined to have overpaid will be issued a refund.

Any questions regarding the program should be sent to HFS.GEMT@illinois.gov or to the Bureau of Professional and Ancillary Services at 877-782-5565.
