Re: Confirmation of Hormone Therapy Coverage Effective January 1, 2024, per Public Act 102-0804

This notice confirms the Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) coverage of hormone therapy pursuant to Public Act 102-0804.
The Act states that a group or individual policy of accident and health insurance or a managed care plan that is amended, delivered, issued, or renewed on or after January 1, 2024, shall provide coverage for medically necessary hormone therapy treatment to
treat menopause that has been induced by a hysterectomy. HFS already provides medically necessary hormone therapy for those hysterectomy cases in which the ovaries have also been removed (oophorectomy). No coverage changes are necessary under the
fee-for-service (FFS) program or Medicaid managed care plans.
