Smart Street Lighting: Request for Proposal
Light Up Illinois! Smart Street Lighting
Illinois has taken another step in the evolution of becoming
a “Smart State” with the release of an RFP
that allows local governments to leverage the benefits of Smart Street
Lighting.
The Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT), in
conjunction with Central Management Services (CMS), released a request for
companies to bid on a statewide master contract for Smart Street Lighting for
Illinois Municipalities. This will allow local governments, both large and
small, to benefit from a statewide contract and capitalize on the cost savings
and scalability of LED street lighting. Hardik Bhatt, Secretary Designate and
state CIO of DoIT stated that "Illinois is nationally recognized as the
first U.S. state to have a vision and roadmap for becoming a smarter state. The
Smart Street Lighting effort will accelerate our efforts by bringing
operational efficiency and offering smart technologies to communities, who
could otherwise not consider this on their own.” Responses are due April 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. CST.
