Volunteer to Judge at the Illinois History Expo!

You Be the Judge . . . Really!

Folks from all walks of life are needed to judge student history projects at the Illinois History Expo.  Are you interested in seeing what young people think about our history?  Find out by serving as a volunteer judge for the Illinois History Expo.
At Expo, junior and senior high school students who received “superior” ratings in regional competitions compete for state honors.  Some projects will be selected to represent Illinois at a national competition in June.  You don’t have to be a history expert to judge, just . . .
  • Be willing to do a conscientious job
  • Examine research papers mailed to you in advance of the Expo or evaluate a set of projects the day of Expo in one of these categories: exhibits, media presentations, performances or websites.
Judges at the Expo have about two hours to evaluate no more than 10 projects and write a two or three sentence evaluation of each project to help students improve their work.  You will work with one or more team members to evaluate each project.
